See what your daily drive to work really costs you each year — in fuel, per mile, and per month.
Your commute costs
Fuel is only part of owning a car. This calculator counts just the fuel (or electricity) for your commute — it leaves out depreciation, insurance, maintenance and repairs, tolls, parking, and financing (see “What is excluded” below). Your true cost per mile of driving is higher.
Small per-mile amounts compound fast over a commute: a few cents per mile, times hundreds of miles a week, becomes thousands of dollars a year. That’s why even a 10% cut in driving — one carpool day, one work-from-home day — shows up as real money.
